As the Commander of Chapter 1000 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, I have chosen a cause that I believe will help preserve our nations combat history. We as combat wounded veterans have a story to tell, whether it be about that fateful day in combat or a tale of humor in otherwise dark times, to something that we are the proudest of during our military career. The truth is we will not be around forever and when we go, so does our stories and memories. Because of this I am honored to start the Americas Combat Veterans Stories Program. With this program we can help restore history and show the public of South Georgia what true Patriotism is.
Americas Combat Veterans Stories Program will consist of three phases:
Gather and collect all stories from our Patriot members of Chapter 1000 as well as from any of the Auxiliary members that might want to tell their story of home.
Once stories are collected from those in Chapter 1000, reach out to other combat veterans in the South Georgia area and get their story recorded, as well as get the stories from any other Purple Heart member that wants to share in the Department of Georgia.
Compile all stories onto a DVD and distribute them to the public. These DVDs can be great teaching tools for High School teachers as well as College History Professors. Each member who shared a story will receive a free copy to share with their family.
